Was this a normal day? Or was there an exercise? That seems to be much better than any Dutch or German airbase at the moment?

To me it looked like a regular day, except for the helicopters maybe as they were flying around with the "call 121,5" signs. But exercise or not you are right that indeed it was much better than on any Dutch or German airbase nowadays!! As you can imagine I was very happy with the result!

Have been here a couple of times in past years, and this diversity was not unusual. At times the field was very slow, but what does fly is good. Am inclined to say this was a rather normal day.
The 'Call 121.5' is carried by several a/c semi-permanently.

Re: Zeltweg (LOXZ) MIL 2011
I will be staying an hour away from Zeltweg (St. Peter am Kammersberg) when I'm on Holiday in Austria. If I can manage to sneak away from wife and kids , I would like to go to Zeltweg for half a day or so. Can someone give me some insight into:
- The best location to stand (I have the Scramble Airfield guide book to help as well)
- How many mm I need to shoot pictures
- What time of the day is best in terms of activity and/or light

Geert, in order asked:
- Spot 1

- activity: office hours generally, light gets better in the afternoon obviously

Thanks Erik! Last night I checked the airfield guide, only to find out Austria is not in the book! Can you provide more insight as to where spot 1 is about?Key wrote:Geert, in order asked:

Hm, I see. Spot 1 is on the eastern edge of the base, short final 26. It's easy to find. Have fun!
