Post by Oscar01 »

Hi,

Next was my visit to Barksdale AFB. Very big base with lots of big stuff! Pitty that the A10s are currently seeing upgrade to A-10C standard, so 8 to 10 were not that. But will see them next week.... Here we go with the numbers:
2nd BW all coded LA:
60-0008/8AF / 60-0013 / 60-0014 / 60-0023 / 60-0024 / 60-0025 / 60-0048 / 60-0054 / 60-0059/96BS
61-0002/2OG / 61-0004 / 61-0016 / 60-0019
0018 / 0028 / 0046 (no fy noted)

307BW all coded BD
60-0015 / 0035 / 0041 / 0042 / 0045 / 0051 / 0057/340WPS / 0061
61-0008 / 0011 / 0017 / 0029 / 0031 / 0038

A-10s all code BD
79-0090 / 0097 / 0144 / 0146 / 0151 / 0152 / 0154 / 0180 / 0197
80-0160
4 flew as Hero01-04

Aircraft not seen:
6 B-52s at Nellis
'number of aircraft at undisclosed deployments' (6 to 8)
4 A10s went out before my visit
A-10s at overhaul

Visit
164408 E-6 tdy

Preserved inside base:
79-0552/BD A-10
63-0532/FE F-4

Furthermore there were some interesting a/c in the museum. Log will follow seperately.

Regards,
Oz

Hi Oscar,

Nice long log. On the above three if you noted them using the four digits on the nose then their FY will be 60. If their FY is 61 then the number on the nose will be noted as 1XXX for example: 61-0002 has 1002 on the nose.

Cheers,

Tally.

Hi Oz,

Some comments and remarks.
B-52's:
60-0014 is stored at Davis Monthan. Lasted noted by myself in 2005.
0046 as mentioned in my previous post this is most likely a FY 60. The problem with the 60-0046 is that it is stored at Davis Monthan as well. I noted it last in April of 2007.

A-10's:
79-0097 is probably a missread. This aircraft is preserved in Myrtle Beach.

Preserved aircraft:
A-10A is the 76-0552.
F-4C is the 63-7532.

Happy spotting. Hope the snow in TX doesn't make you feel like home!!! From 23C to -7C in a matter of two days is even for this rusted Dutchman tough.

Tally.
