Tunisair-linked Mauritania Airways blacklisted by Europe
By David Kaminski-Morrow
Tunisair affiliate carrier Mauritania Airways has been included on the European Commission's latest revision of blacklisted airlines.
Mauritania Airways, part-owned by Tunisair, operates Boeing 737-700 aircraft on regional services.
In its update to the blacklist of carriers banned from European operations, the Commission states that Mauritania Airways has "persisting deficiencies" in its operations and maintenance.
These deficiencies have been detected during ramp inspections at European Union airports.
The Commission adds that the ban will also extend to any other carrier certified in Mauritania.
But it has partly eased the restrictions on Ghana's Airlift International, following "progress achieved".
Airlift International will be allowed to operate two McDonnell Douglas DC-8-63Fs into Europe.
