Purple names?

Purple names?
I just saw a few users that had their names in purple, ebauer and Copter were the ones. Is there any reason for this?

Those are the moderators for one or more (sub) forums.
One of them "complained" he was not distinguishable as being a moderator, in contrast to administrators (red) and global moderators (green)
Not sure about the colour though.
