Eurocypria: another one bites the dust

Post by frank kramer »

Cypriot carrier Eurocypria has stated that all flying has been stopped as of November 4, 2010, due to unsurmountable financial problems. The situation was further aggravated by the fact that the airlines crews had called a strike because of the financial problems. The Government of Cyprus stated it will not come to the rescue, as it is unable to support two carriers (Cyprus AW of course being the other) in the face of stiff competition from Europe's low cost airlines. This leaves 15.000 tourists (mainly from Germany and Russia) stranded, but the Cypriot government also stated that they will use Cyprus AW to help them out. (credits: Het Laatste Nieuws/Belga)
