The instructions on tigermeet.eu will be translated into English in a short time. Please excuse us, we are still busy!IrishAirPics wrote:Another question regarding positions but this time it's about being outside the base... The tigermeet.eu info pages regarding spotting locations are in Dutch and sometimes Google Translate changes the meaning of the text so forgive me for asking.
The maps have green shaded areas where spotters are permitted but these are either northside of the base or under the approach, if we park in the designated areas as requested can we still walk to the N264 or N277 in order to take pictures from the southside of the approach?

Re: Spotters days Tiger Meet 7/13 October 2010
Having never visited Volekl before, can anyone tell me what lens I will require on a 1.6 crop camera so I can take pictures of the a/c on the main runway? It seems the location of the spotters area, south of the parallel runway is quite a way from the main runway? will a 70-200mm be enough or do I have to resort to my 100-400mm??
Many thanks

That was my question, thanks Spacedust.Spacedust wrote:These parkings are still there, but closed during the spotter days, because of safety. Use the parking instructions on tigermeet.eu.Austria wrote:Short quistion: Can you still use the parking at the side of the N264, pointed out as no.4 on the scramblesite "where to go"??
It has been a long time since I've been there, so I don't know if they are still there?
Thanks in advance, Brian.
However does it mean it will also be closed on the other days? Planning to go on monday for the arrivals.
Thanks in advance, Brian

During the spotterdays, you will need the 400 mm for the main runway. Depending if they use 06R or 24L you have to use the 70-200 or 100-400 for the parallel runway during take offs.stranexuk wrote:Having never visited Volekl before, can anyone tell me what lens I will require on a 1.6 crop camera so I can take pictures of the a/c on the main runway? The parkings will be closed during the whole exercise. The traffic circulation plan which is active during the exercise will be published (hopefully) today on tigermeet.eu.Austria wrote:That was my question, thanks Spacedust.Spacedust wrote:These parkings are still there, but closed during the spotter days, because of safety. Re: Spotters days Tiger Meet 7/13 October 2010
Does anyone know yet if the smaller southern runway will be confined to the local F-16's only or will that runway be used by all participants?
If the visitors are confined to the northern runway then heat haze or indeed rain for that matter could be a problem when taking pictures of anything other than a Volkel F-16.

I haven been told (by someone who should know) that the Southern runway will be used by other a/c as well. The majority of the a/c will operate from the main runway though.IrishAirPics wrote:Does anyone know yet if the smaller southern runway will be confined to the local F-16's only or will that runway be used by all participants?

Everybody who also spends a (part of the) day outside the base, take a look at http://www.tigermeet.eu/index.php?optio ... 29&lang=en for the current situation regarding the driving directions, available parkings and most important the spots you can use. If you use the information provided, there will be no problems with the police or the farmers.
This message concerns also the people who are familiar with the normal situation at Volkel!

Small question, where will the Dutch Tiger F-16 be parked?
Cheers, Michel

Thanks in advance!
So only the "regulars" will use the parallel runway and the specials the main. Anyone have seen the tribune / spotters place already from outside? same place as during the spottersday ahead of the airshow? (guess not)EVHK 05-10-10

ter aanvulling op K-9:
Rond 16:55 kwam er nog een late eenzame F-16 over Mill in de landing op VKL.
? ID ?
Or is there some special arrangement that all aircraft will backtrack the parallel runway after landing? would be great, but do not expect it because of operational reasons.
