Incident: Tunis Air A306 over France on Aug 19th 2010, intercepted by fighter aircraft

A Tunis Air Airbus A300-600, registration TS-IPA performing flight TU-722 from Tunis (Tunisia) to Paris Orly (France), entered French airspace from Sardinia to Corsica at FL340 and maintained FL340 all the time until beginning the descent into Paris about abeam Geneva.

The aircraft was intercepted by French figher aircraft somewhere in French airspace and was escorted to landing in Paris Orly. The aircraft landed safely on time.

The return flight TU-723 departed Paris Orly with a delay of 2 hours after 3 hours on the ground.

Tunis Air said, they are astonished about their flight being intercepted after entering French airspace, no loss of communication had occurred, the crew was in communication with air traffic control all time.
No technical problems were recorded with any of the airplane's radios. The airline will work with Tunisian and French Civil Aviation Authorities to clarify the incident.

French Authorities did not comment.

Agence France Press (AFP) cited an airport source saying, that there was concern for the communication.
When the airplane was flying a little low and did not respond to radio, the alert was raised.
