Re: European airspace closures due to volcanic ashes
As even more European airspace is being closed today, chances are slim anything substantial will happen in western Europe. Helsinki might lift some restrictions.
Edit: the list of what is closed is too long. This is the list of what is open at this time (09:30UTC):
-Maastricht UAC above FL355
-France above FL355
-Romania above FL355
-Swiss above FL355 except for Y + Z flt's (combi of VFR&IFR)
-Spain below FL195 and above FL355

Re: European airspace closures due to volcanic ashes
Just learned through higher sources within KLM that KLM has been granted permission to have 3 freighter aircraft depart for the Far East? Does anyone know anything about this ?

Yep, see today's topic for Schiphol. Three flights that are normally for pax are set to leave now with cargo and crew only.

Re: European airspace closures due to volcanic ashes
Just overhead Utrecht relatively low a 4-engine plane. 747 probably?
So the airspace is open for limited use or so?

Once more, see Schiphol and Netherlands forums for localized updates.

Re: European airspace closures due to volcanic ashes
Northern Spain/Portugal is now being affected.
The following airports are closed:
LEST - Santiago
LEVX - Vigo
LECO - A Coruña
LEAS - Asturias
LEXJ - Santander
LEVD - Valladolid
LEBG - Burgos
LESA - Salamanca
A no-fly zone has also been established within Portugese airspace, and northern Spanish airspace is closed below FL200.

The ashcloud is spreading southwards, also parts of northern Morocco are affected as well as Gibralter.
