Re: Wittmundhafen (ETNT) - 2010 MIL
here is my report from my visit to Wittmund some weeks ago; by poor luck I was there before the Vulcan ash cloud came in, although my original planning was visiting the airbase during the second week of the exercise, family and job constraints "forced" me to visit Wittmund on the 12th of April already. Here are the results (anybody got the identity of the dark JaboG 33 Tornado performing a low-approch together with 44+33 ?):

Re: Wittmundhafen (ETNT) - 2010 MIL
Wittmund 6th may 08:45 - 14:30LT
Parked outside (ramp):
A4N: N431FS, N434FS en N437FS
Towed:
38+01, 37+88
First wave returning:
37+63
37+79
38+58
38+48
37+96
38+43 'CFG'
Flyby: Tornado 46+08 JBG31 grey c/s
Teasing at high altitude: Eurofighter...
Second Wave
A4N N431FS and N434FS
38+75 aborted, later towed away
38+28
38+16
37+89
37+79
37+85
38+70 (Qra)
38+64 arr
Just after the second wave departed a very active 'wache' wrote down my car licenseplate and also that of a german car. Has anyone had this experience yet
We parked our car on the west side of the base, well clear from runwayside of the fence.
The german aviation enthousiast got in a fierce conversation with the 'wache'. It was to far away for me to hear it.
When he was finished i talked to the guy. He warned me that it was not allowed to fotograph buildings, i was allowed in the field.
I should not get to close to the fence because i could damage it... like i would.. The fence is more likely to damage me!
Why he noted my number is not clear to me, he said something like: if my car gets noted a few more times i would be sorry...
kind regards Richard

13 may is in Germany "Himmelfahrt" (hemelvaartsdag) and also "Vatertag".planespotters.nl wrote:Does anyone know of there will be flying activities at 13,14 and 24 may?

Not because of this "Vatertag", but "Himmelfahrt" makes this day like a sunday......so......I am quite sure there will be no flying this day.
NOTE :"Vatertag" in Germany like "vaderdag" in Holland.....but a different date !!

Re: Wittmundhafen (ETNT) - 2010 MIL
Fronleichnam is only a "more to the southern part of Germany" holyday......(Baden-Württemberg, Bayern, Hessen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz und Saarland....think I got them all now....)
I live in Niedersachsen ( ...the same Bundesland where Wittmund is in...) and it is an average working day here.
...but don´t shoot me if I am totally wrong for Wittmund...

Thanks for the replies, we decided not to travel to Wittmund, especially with 8 Phantoms gone to defend Iceland... Will try some time soon!

Re: Wittmundhafen (ETNT) - 2010 MIL
There are six Phantoms in Iceland. The numbers are:
37+85, 37+92, 38+00, 38+26, 38+42, 38+57.
38+73 departed with them, but returned the next day.
Pictures from the arrival in Iceland can be found on http://www.luftwaffe.de.
Four Phantoms will support the ILA, so expect not so much flying activity in the next week.
