uploading & showing poor quality pics @ scramble
I've got a question.
More and more people seem to think that uploading picas on this site is an achievement in itself.
I see very unsharp, poor quality, plenty the same shots from one and the same aircraft and so on passing on the Aviation Photo Forum.
Is it me being to grumpy?
Or do more people think a small "self-examination" of the pics before uploading is a valid consideration in this case ?

Fully agreed, but what ya gonna do?
If you tell those people they feel insulted. Most often heard reaction to any comment that is not positive: You don't have to look.
Point should rather be: you don't have to upload.

That's just the reason my photos do not show up.
Why uploading when not adding extra pleasure.
It is like Idols, some people have to be said they are not fit for the job

As moderators we don't screen on quality, or it has to be very poor quality. As a regular visitor to the photo forum I have also seen some improvement by some guys. Maybe because of this photo forum...
Everyone is free to give his opinion, if it is in a "normal" way. Feel free to tell them their pictures are of bad quality. In my opinion the photo forum is to show your pics and get feedback. Feedback can improve your pictures. And by showing your pics in the photo forum, everybody is allowed to give his opinion, negative or positive. If you only want positive feedback, just show your pictures to your girlfriend or mother
And about the reaction "you don't have to look", if you really care about your pictures you want to improve....
@Redskin, totally agree, but I do think Johan means the "you don't have to look" guys.

Hi Johan,
I agree with you. Sometimes I try to give fundamental advise, when I think it's worth it. Unfortunately not everybody can handle critisim, not even when it's meant to be constructive. I think the X-factor example says it all. Some people just don't want to believe the jury and think they know better.
If we all send some advise every now and then, I'm sure the quality of the published pictures is going to improve.
Cheers,
Iwan

Re: uploading & showing poor quality pics @ scramble
Kijk, leer & Experimenteer!

Re: uploading & showing poor quality pics @ scramble
Thanks everybody for the nice & constructive comments.
Maybe, maybe a photosection "X-factor photography" can be added. Photo's uploaded in this section are there to be judged by others. Positive and/or negative.
Only after +10 positive comments or points this person can upload photo's to the other photo-sections.
Can work both ways: improving someone's photo skills by the given comments.
And the overall quality of the photo-sections might improve. And, the comments and discussions from the jury (being everybody else ) can add fun to this topic.

Sometimes I wonder if people drop their picuters unprocessed here on the
forum just to be the first of that day or the first to have a certain aircraft
on the forum?

Thats the reason that scramble has less visitors. and websites like millspotters are more popular.

Re: uploading & showing poor quality pics @ scramble
So did I with last Rossia Il-96. 5mins after touchdown processed on this forum. Like to be first, but kept quality matters in my mind. So the challenge should be: first one with processed or proper shot gets the reward.http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic. ... 59#p395559dj_ad wrote:Sometimes I wonder if people drop their picuters unprocessed here on the

Re: uploading & showing poor quality pics @ scramble
Topic like this helps me also a lot. I also count myself as someone who learns a lot by posting pictures here (and on a.net). What I also prefer is criticism on picture very hard. I don't mind you make me cry and next week I show you better pictures.
But off-course any picture could better and you can always learn.
I also agree to separate the photo area in 2 parts. Just like a.net and myAvation.net, planespotter.net heeft HQ en all accept and eosdigitaal.nl has 3 parts I thought.
What the previous poster said I agree also. I and I am sure others also agree to help young beginning photographers.
What I also like is comment by picture not as the comment here. But like SilverWingPix and Andras did here.
