Re: Red Arrows crash at Kastelli
Good that nobody has serious injuries.
But sad news, so close to the start of the airshow season...

Why did they train at Crete. I believed they used to train their program at Akrotiri?

Re: Red Arrows crash at Kastelli
They were on their way to Cyprus, Just took the opportunity to do some extra training before arrival there (as one of the links here or in the military news section is to be believed).

Re: Red Arrows crash at Kastelli
Weird coincidence. Only last week I saw a documentary called 'Dangermen' on (I think) National Geographic) on the Arrows. Fantastic documentary. It showed Mike 'Kermit' Ling's entry into the team and his first public display at the Southend Airshow with his parents present. Good thing he and the other pilot are ok.Flight Lieutenant Mike Ling ejected in mid-air
Bit off topic but the documentary can be seen here. A must see
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
My flight instructor once said: these guys put the "Great" into "Great Britain" and I could not agree more.

Re: Red Arrows crash at Kastelli
The nickname "Kermit" belongs to the Kiwi Simon Rea, Red 9 this year, because that's who he sounds like on the RT!
Mike Ling is merely "Lingy". Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
Regards
Peter
