Yak-9 at Bremgarten/Eschbach, May 2009

Post by Buccaneer S.2B »

Good afternoon,

Just digging into some old logs: the 22th of May 2009 at Eschbach/Bremgarten a grey/grey Yak9
coded 12/white was noted.
Not being D-FIST or D-FAFA (from the Meier website), research on the internet didn't reveal anything else so far. Maybe anyone for the correct ID ?

t.i.a.,
regards,
Remco

Hi Andy & Harry,

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately it isn't the one I saw, the following link
http://www.planpictures.net/show.php?id=924193" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
from Flugzeugbilder.de shows a marvellous picture (mmm, not mine.....) of the specific aircraft,
taken at Bremgarten the 4th of April 2009.

nevertheless thanks,
regards,
Remco

Remco,

It sure looks like Yak-3 D-FAFL, (ex N20669) which is at Eschbach since 2008.
Compare your picture with old ones on the internet from N20669

Regards,

Otger

Hi Otger,

Thans for the idea: I searched for some pictures, indeed it must be the (ex) N20669 as you wrote, which means the c/s as shown for D-FAFL on the Meiermotors website must have been applied after May 2009 (then it makes sense...........)
Mystery solved ! (at least for me)
BTW: bitt off topic but maybe usefull, noted May09 in the back of a hangar at the light aviation side was Yak18T LY-PEP which was according to EMOOS2007 based at Samedan.

Remco

Hi
just to confirm, the yak-3U seen in Bremgarten, D-FAFL, was earlier registered in the US, N20669, and flown as White 12.
The second seat was added by Bruce Lookwood in the US
I bought the plane in 2007, and it was recently repainted as White-24, as flown by Roland de la Poype, one of the French aces
that flew in Russia 43-45 in the Normandie-Niemen squadron and scored 16 victories.
She will be participating in various events throughout the summer in Europe.
FAFL stands for "Forces aériennes françaises libres".
