An update as of the 15th of July at
http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/news/def ... l&id=31373" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Indeed, the Aviodrome is still 120,000 euros short.

Worse:
Dat kan nog tot eind dit jaar, want dan wordt het gesloopt.
Yes, only five months left to save her from the scrapman!

Hi, found this on the "MSE (Manston) latest news" part on the EBOS-SPOTTING site (forum), speculations only but something is going on... maybe good news???:
Posted by twitcher : Wed Oct 21, 2009 8:22 pm:
The aircraft is being defuelled this week in preparation for stage one of its journey. I understand the wings and tail will be removed and it will then be put on a low-loader to Ramsgate and transported by barge to Holland?
and a reaction...

That is good news, hope they have enough money to restore it as a static display in KLM colours.

Anyone for a confirmation or with more inside info on the 9G-MKA to the Aviodrome, Lelystad???
Thanx in advance!

...so they are not there yet, the fundraising campaign is still ongoing!

But at least the scrapman will not get his hands on this DC-8 if all goes well...

O yes . It is nice to see a KLM DC-8 back in KLM colours (I hope in blue top colors). A DC-8-63 is even better.

The next step is a former Transavia Caravelle. Go to Tucson Arizona and you will find the former United/Transavia Caravelle 6r.
No 87 PH-TRY. That plane is screaming for a restoration in Transavia colour scheme and not for eventual restoration and display in United colours.

Also in the USA at Van Nuys Airport California the former United/Transavia Caravelle 6r. No 102 PH-TRU. This plane looks like it is not WFU. I say: start the avon engines and make a screaming aproach at the Aviodrome. haha.

Next a DC-9................................................................................

If we start this way... we can make room already for DC10 or even MD11 as even those become more rare these days!
First the Diesel 8 will get there hopefully and after that we will see again ;)

Well, there is already one ex-NWA earmarked for Aviodrome in cooperation between KLM and Northwest. About a year ago there was quite some news about this, only Aviodrome was unaware

Update about this machine at:http://www.aviodrome.nl/actueel/nieuws/2010/01-04.asp.

Short translation: tanks have been cleaned by a specialist company from England, after which a team from Lelystad did an inspection. The condition was found to be in a better condition as expected.

A raw plan for transportation was drawn up in about half a day. Final details have to be solved though and as soon as weather permits, dismantling will start. Although quite some parts are missing most have been traced (including the engines).

Also some pics at the link, by the way.

Only for static display (last thing I heard was it should be positioned between the 747 and the fence guarding the taxiway towards the runway, OK, that is info from 6 months ago). I don't know about any thoughts about a flying children's playground, or what it should be like..... And AFAIK and could make up from this topic and the links it contains, it will be transported over sea. I guess the runway at EHLE is quite short for a DC 8 at this time, and if the wings are taken off, handling characteristics might be quite awful.

Today an update appeared at the Aviodrome website: http://www.aviodrome.nl/collecties-en-p ... ustus-2010 in Dutch.

What it is most about: it is not only a money problem on Aviodrome's side, another problem is that the owner of the DC 8 is under bankruptcy protection (or whatever equivalent of this) in their country.
