CHANGE
Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

CHANGE
As of now, this forum has a sub-forum for all thematic topics and those containing photos older than six months. What counts is when a topic is opened and how it is intended. The idea is to split the 'timeless' and collection topics from those about recent photo shoots. If anything is unclear, just ask.

If the photos are old edits, say you went to RIAT in 2009 and you've re-edited the pictures, because RIAT was over 6 months ago it goes in the 'thematic thread.'
This splits old and recents shots.
Chris.
Re: CHANGE
Dag Erik,
maybe an idea, but I think it's far more clear if you split these two topics allready in the Board Index, instead of the Aviation Photo Forum itself. Now I think it's not that clear that there are two topics, Thematic/Actuel).

Re: CHANGE
Hoi Martijn,
Dus daarom is jullie input altijd gewenst.
--------------------------------------------
We just had the same discussion
A second forum at the board index could let to some confusion. Maybe it is more clear to our forum members at this way.
A third way could be to create two subforums under the Aviation Photo forum. This is not done because the actual postings have to be on the first page.
But maybe we are totally wrong, time will tell
Therefore your input is highly appreciated.

Let's wait and see, were just my 2 cents!

Re: CHANGE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The distinction between old pictures / collection topics and actual photos is not a point of discussion.
It is more a discussion about the lay-out. Where to place this new created (sub)forum.
For your information, this topic http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=59759" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; was the trigger

Re: CHANGE
In my opinion, the actual lay out is the best. These thematic topics and others still contain pictures, so it clearly belongs in the aviation photo forum and not direct on the board index.Thijs wrote:It is more a discussion about the lay-out. Where to place this new created (sub)forum.

Hulde!

Re: CHANGE
My personal opinion is that it should be seperated like this..
Civilian Aviation:
-Thematic
-Recent
Military Aviation
-Thematic
-Recent
Obviously when you have a topic with both the user will either split it if there is a big number of both, or choose which one section it would be best in.

Re: CHANGE
Oh please, not more civil/military split! I am still hoping the MIL/CIV discrimination in the logs finally end. It is making everything so plit up, it is nearly impossible to have any good overview of what is happening at an airfield! And then the next step to also split up all photo threads per airfield, like with the logs.....?

Re: CHANGE
Erwin,
I don't think you seem to realise that not everyone likes civilian aircraft, I don't not like them but I much prefer military. There is no 'MIL/CIV discrimination' involved, it is merely a means of separation to keep things organised. The reason splitting by airbase doesn't work by this is that it's not always going to be MIL or CIV at a specified base. The reason logs probably are set in airbases is so you know immediately what base is involved.
Kind regards,
Chris.

Re: CHANGE
relax Erwin:-) this split up sounded as a logical one looking at the number of collection topics. When this new mb was introduced the number of collection topics was very low. Nowadays it looks like a new trend. In our opinion it was a logical step to act on this new external development. Although the original plan came from a mb member.
Erwin you also know the world is changing and sometimes you have to react on it and sometimes not. This time we did. But when the input of the new created subforum is very low one can decide to close this subforum. Having a subforum for a low amount of posts does not sound logical. Thijs

It looks like all has been explained.
Short summary: on request of users, we sought a workable division to create a better overview. The easiest and most logical way we could think of, was a simple split. The best criterium seemed to be:
