Tips for spotting in Puerto Rico

Post by MAS017 »

Will be off for San Juan next week for a few days...

Any tips for spotting at SJU, especially vantage photo-points for runways 08/10, and how to get there ?

How are authorities towards spotting/photographing aircraft at SJU ?

Any other airports worthwhile visiting on the island ?

Hiya,

Anyone for information regarding spotting at the various airfields in Puerto Rico? Which airports are worth a visit, where to stay at those fields, what about security bothering you, etc.

Also, we are aware of the fact that there's an old burned out DC4 near Aquadilla Airport and that there are a couple of Dakota's somewhere near Barranquitas in the middle of the Island. The adress of this place, or directions, would be appreciated as we know the name of the restaurant where the planes are (Restaurante Los Aviones) but we weren't able to locate the place so far. Besides of these planes, anyone for other wrecks & relics on the island?

We decided to base ourselves at the International Airport of San Juan but we haven't booked a hotel yet. Can anyone advise us if there's a hotel from where it's able to have a view on the airport, approach or take-off?

We were allready informed that it's difficult to have a view on a large part of the stored airplanes at SJU. Anyone a solution for this problem, like a base-visit or so?

Many thanks in advance,
Chris Veringa
