Looks like a show number for an open day or airshow.

that is the airshow number used at Le Bourget 1979 when this 32nd TFS F-15B was used by McDonnell Douglas for the display.

according to my information and the magazines Onze Luchtmacht and De Vliegende Hollander the number "33" has nothing to do with an airshow number , but was carried temporarily to memorate the fact , that the Paris Air Salon at Le Bourget took place for the 33rd time in 1979 ; this F-15B gave several demonstrations at the occasion.P.Terlouw wrote:that is the airshow number used at Le Bourget 1979 when this 32nd TFS F-15B was used by McDonnell Douglas for the display.

this is NOT correct. The number indicates the exibit number at the airshow. For instance at the 1989 Le Bourget the Russians had 387 (An-225) 388 (Su27) etc etc. Choppers have an H added in front of this number. Just check airliners.net and you will see all the numbers on the aircraft.according to my information and the magazines Onze Luchtmacht and De Vliegende Hollander the number "33" has nothing to do with an airshow number , but was carried temporarily to memorate the fact , that the Paris Air Salon at Le Bourget took place for the 33rd time in 1979 ; this F-15B gave several demonstrations at the occasion.

What an extraordinary coincidence then , that 1979 was ALSO the 33rd time , that the Paris Air Salon was held at Le Bourget!P.Terlouw wrote:this is NOT correct. Yes , but in this case it concerns not less than a WOLFHOUNDS Eagle!ehusmann wrote:If it were the 11th time, the A-10 on the static would have had the honour. If it had been the 85th time the Do.28 would have had the winning number and the Corvette was even more optimistic, it thought it was at 163 already!
Funny how these Le Bourget numbers keep people amazed...
