That's a rather regular procedure. :wink:
Imagine what would happen if the landing gear was retracted but would refuse to extend again during this VERY public first flight... :oops:

not sure bout the fuselage looks, but the wing flex is impressive!

Not entirely true, gear is probably retracted at a more safe altitude (for that we have to wait untill the air2air footage) just like with the A400M, A380 as the most recent major maiden flights.

Some examples:

First flight 757:

as you can see in the video the gear remains down for a longer period as normal, but later on in the video it's retracted.
