Beautiful collection of aircraft, but it is always sad to see airframes stored in the open air getting weather damaged!

Agree 100% with this statement: visited the museum 2 years ago, and the outside parked aircraft were in a lot better shape, esp. the paint/colours...TAZZ wrote:Beautiful collection of aircraft, but it is always sad to see airframes stored in the open air getting weather damaged!

Hi...
Nice pics indeed of interesting aircraft.
Too bad that they're in a very bad shape, at leat, the "outside" pics...
Looks like a lot of these pictures are made, using a wide-angle lens.
Is that the only way to get the whole aircraft on the photo?
I ask this because I plan to visit the museum but don't like to use wide-angle for aircraft pictures...
Grtz.

Hi,
It's a nice museum, it is sad that the outside aircraft are in such a poor condition, but the aircraft are just great to see.
Inside the hangars there are also lots of aircraft that are in a much better condition but the lightning inside is poor.
In one hangar there also is a F-4F Phanthom, Tornado IDS and a Mig-29 Fulcrum, they look if they are in a flyable condition.
For the photo's, I used a wide angle lens (18mm+), because else you where seeing the white lines in front of the aircraft, just like with te green camo F-104 Starfighter. But you can also make some pics with a normal lens (35mm+) if someone else is lowering the lines some little bit.

Re: Luftwaffe museum Berlin-Gatow 26-11-2009.
Hi Werner,
I will be in Berlin between september 26 and 29 and are planning on visiting the museum.
Now I have a few questions.
1. How long will i need to go through the museum inside and out?
2. Is there a restaurant in the museum, since I am travelling with someone who can`t walk for long distances at a time. So this person could wait there.
3. Is it a guided tour, or can you walk around by yourself?
Thanks,
Rob.
