Winglets for A320

Airbus has announced that they have selected the winglet design to be offered on the A320 family.

Main points announced:
- Available on new aircraft only
- For the A320 from 2012, and the A319/321 from 2013
- Air New Zealand is the launch customer on their recent A320 order
- 3.5% improvment in fuelburn on flights longer than 1500nm
- 110nm extra range or 500kg extra payload
- Airbus is working with Aviation Partners to develop a 'sharklet' that can be retrofitted to existing aircraft

any idea how big these sharklets will become?

Is stated in the article/report: :wink:
Leahy says that the 2.4m (7.8ft)-high sharklets will be "weight neutral" as the required wingbox strengthening,
