Hi y'all,
perhaps one of the Helo-buffs can help me: is the "V" in the c/n of CH-53 84+99 (V65-097) mandatory? I ask that because it seems there is another CH-53 with almost the same c/n: CH-53A 153707 has c/n 65-097 (it's currently @ AMARG).
Thanks!

The CH-53G was license built in Germany by VFW. All their c/n's start with V65,whereas the Sikorsky-built ones have c/n's that start with just 65. In total VFW did build 110 of these helicopters (c/n V65001 through V65110, serials 84+03 through 85+12. Sikorsky did build close to 700 machines, icl serial 84+01 and 84+02 (c/n's 65156 and 65157).
By the way, these c/n's must be written without the hyphen.

Thanks guys! (The hyphen-thing is probably an update for a lot of databases, including Scramble's... )
