Need help identifying aircraft at Savigny les Beaune
Went to Savigny Les Beaune last week and have some difficulties identifying a small number of aircraft in their collection. Can anyone help me with these;
F-100F (?) lying at the storage/dump up the hill;
Danish F-84G (?) also at the storage/dump up the hill;
Belgium F-84F, also at the storage/dump up the hill, showing what seem to be burning damage at the bottom of the fuselage?;
F-100F, painted in Thunderbirds "Nine" markings, first one in the mid field;
and finally (for now at least), this cockpit section in primer of a Super Mystere;
The help I received so far still left room for doubts on these so I hope someone else is able to help me out...
thanks in advance !

F-84 I did not identify
F-84F = FU-21 (the stick which supported it broke it seems)
F-100F = ?
Mystere was complete last year (but dismanteld)

Re: Need help identifying aircraft at Savigny les Beaune
The stored F-100 should be 64017
The F-100 in Thunderbirds c/s in Danish GT-949
The primar nose section of de SMB2 should be from s/n 50
It not a stored Danish F-84 but Belgium, the Danish tail in front of
it is from T-33A DT-905.
Did you see any Mystere 4A's in the storage. If so which ones ?

Otger

The 46017 should indeed be 64017
But I think SMB s/n 50 is not the nose because the camoflaged 50/12-ZE was lying next to it in may 2008 (only read the code)
In this month I only had one thunderjet in store, the same one. The underside of the leaning wings are a bit blue.
I do have 2 questions on preserved a/c;
which mystere is the "285" and which Etendard is the "60"

50 20-ZE still lies there in camo, with wings agains it, so the nose cannot be her......stipjes wrote:Thanks for the GT-949.W&R wrote:The stored F-100 should be 64017

as for Etendard 60, she really is 60 although she has a replaced tail, original tail is attached to a fence on the field, where the number 60 is partially removed, but tails do change sometimes.....
Talking about tails..., also saw a tail with number 456 on it , but this one appears to be known, but also a F-100 tail, serial ending 39, anyone a clue which one this was/is?

Re: Need help identifying aircraft at Savigny les Beaune
The Etendard 60 is indeed the real 60.
The Etendard 60 in New York on the USS Intrepid is fake and is reported as s/n 21.
Mystere 4A 285 is also fake. Real 285 went to Lakenheath many years ago and was localy scrapped.
It could help if I know which one's you saw at the storage area. There should still be two.
For the SMB2 not many options remain. It was said the be an a/c from storage.
An other candidate could be 118.
The tail marked 39 is from F-100D 52739

In june I did note the tail of the DT905 on the slope near the Mystere and the Mystere nose. It was next to an unmarked T-33 hull. But did not see the hull this time!

do you know which T-33 fuselage it was? I saw it last year and it had the same colour bare metal as the Mystere 91.Arjan wrote:In june I did note the tail of the DT905 on the slope near the Mystere and the Mystere nose. It was next to an unmarked T-33 hull. But did not see the hull this time!

Re: Need help identifying aircraft at Savigny les Beaune
Yes indeed. Also it isn't baremetal, just a base paint. But unfortunetaly I couldn't find a serial on the hull and through the canopy nothing could be seen. I assumed it was the fuselage of the DT905. But not really sure. The hull also had a part of a tail section attached.
Link below shows pictures of the dump and those aircraft on the slope in june. Note that there was also a complete Mystere in base paint then.

Re: Need help identifying aircraft at Savigny les Beaune
Hello,
DT-905 at Savigny is only the tailsection.
The fuselage is preserved at the museum at Karup AB. The tailsection of DT-492 is attached to the fuselage.
The original tailsection of DT-905 was damaged in 1973 due to a fire. The tailsection of DT-102 was attached by then and swapped again for DT-492 somewhere between 1973 and 1977.
I have no indication where the original tailsection of DT-905 has been located for the past 36 years, but it has emerged at Savigny by now.

With FU-81 I presume you mean the long term inmate FU-31 (FU-81 crashed 1960)Polleke_NL wrote:here the list of the stored aircraft at Savigny as we noted them last Friday;

Anyone for the Belgium F-84G or the real ID of Mystere 4A "285" ?
Did you have had a positive id on the SMB2 91 or is this from deduction ?
The two missing Mystere 4A's from the storage area are 100/8-NP (l/n Jun02) and
116/8-NL/8-MI (l/n May05). Mystere "285" was f/n Jun03. One might conclude that
the "285" is the real s/n 100. 100% sure only when 100 and 116 turn-up somewhere.

Otger
