Nice pictures, everyone. I started the day at the eastern side of the Ginkelse Heide, but during the first drops I moved to a little hill. This hill was right in the flightpath, so I had a great view (and the sun in the back).





I wonder why the Americans jump with the rampdoor closed....


...and the British with the rampdoor open?




Notice the opened air-deflectors (in front of the doors) in all the Hercules pictures.






And finaly, a series of pictures of the opening of a parachute: pretty violent if you look at it this way.

Yesterday morning around 10.45 I saw 2 C130's on their way back from the morning drop (a grey one and a camouflaged one) heading south, crossing the river Maas.
Looking at the picutres in this forum: could these two have been the RAF's 880 (grey)
and 881 (camouflaged) ????

Yesterday morning saw ZH880 and ZH881 active and your timing is about right. These where proably the ones you saw.

The big problem was the light this day, was you standing near the N224, photografy was impossible. ...

You are soooo right ...
This is one of the few I call reasonable, but mainly because of the composition:

EDIT: P.S. the jumper that landed awkwardly as mentioned a few posts back, could that be the one with the tangled wires, bottom right? I do remember a military ambulance coming from the field a few minutes later. Sounded its siren near the crowd next to the N224

As you can see, I arrived too late. Here I am still at the far west side, walking east along the N224 as the dropping started already. By the time I reached the East side, the party was pretty much over already.
So I got some shots from straight below the line of flight, but that was it. I'll post some of them tonight if I see the chance to process them (they need it )

I call this one excellent!!! Because it captures the whole atmosphere of the setting, instead of focussing on the airplanes.

A slower shutter speed for prop blur could have helped a little, though. But it's much better than just "reasonable" in my opinion. The compositioni is great. Very nice shot!

The shape of falling appears to depend on what airforces Herc one drops from: USAF...




...or RAF...


Some did not quite land in the designated area...

Marcel and Hammie your last shots are stunning! Nice perspective that shows the whole scene: jumpers and where they jumped from! Also good lighting and contrast!
But your shots Eric-Jan: just amazing, really surprising here and I think they came out really well. Something different but definitely nice! Just a great atmosphere!

You are right about the shutter speed, Herbert. That would make the picture more dynamic.

I am about half way through the stack of pictures, tuning them to something showable, or deleting them. The result so far (37 pics in total) can be seen on Flickr in one of my sets: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eham-spott ... 297811093/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I still need to change the titles, add tags, etc. but the pictures (as far as I have them yet) are there already. My next chance to pick this up will probably be next weekend (other priorities ) so pease check back in a week or so.
