And that was a very enjoyable base visit! Many thanks for arranging this one Gijs! And also many, many thanks for the German Hauptmans laid back style and humor, together with the sun and all the planes made it a wonderful visit!

Agree with Arjan: thumbs up for the organisation (GRAS) and herr Hauptmann...:good:

Just one question; some of the guys that went there wrote down the Hauptmann's email address and exact location for the accesable training location at Scheurn (?)
Can anyone share that info here please?

Keep up the good work, guys at GRAS !!! :good:
(any chances of getting visit's arranged at any of the other HEER aviation field? Learned from a guard at Buckeburg (who held us standing and forbid us to look and/or take photographs) that it should be possible to get something arranged at Buckeburg, but other places like Fritzlar and other's are also more then welcome !! :drinking: )

Hi Ruud,

The name of the small village is Scheuen, a few kilometers north of Celle. I've searched with Google Maps, but can't find
the two 'runways' where the Hauptman was talking about. Maybe you can contact Redskin301 for more info...

Try this; 52°41'14.75"N, 10° 6'41.39"O (Arloh airstrip)

Also to the west is some kind of kaserne and also this looks like some kind of grass strip 52°40'9.78"N, 10° 5'17.11"O.

Cheers,

Minor addition to this fine log; pics of this one show it still wearing THR30 markings.

Do you mean the one on the ground that could be seen?
No, we saw 2 Bo105's crossing the treeline on the far end towards/from the HFVAS100 area...., one of them was the 86+86, the other one was the 86+21, read off from my pics.

Both look like airstrips indeed but neither has the shape as showed on the screen by herr Hauptmann as it should have two runways crossing at the end (as a "V"-shape)..
Perhaps Redskin has more detailed information??

How can you tell the difference between a Bo105P1 and a Bo105P1 demod?

A demod (not an official designation) has had its rocket racks removed.

Hmmm okay... Cause at Celle the 87+59 was the only one with rocket racks. And this one is in Cristian's list designaded as a demod.

At this location a glider strip, a general aviation airfield (Celle-Arloh, ICAO-code: EDVC, situated: 52° 40' 59" North, 10° 5' 59" East) and the two landing 'runways' for the helicopters (which can't be clearly destincted om maps or aerial pictures) are situated very close together, as can be seen on aproach maps of the general aviation airfield of Arloh. The grass strip you mentioned is the glider strip.
When you lengthen the runway of the GA-field with the same length to the NE you find two intersecting roads in the forest: the 'helicopter-runways'!
