Re: Port visits Netherlands - 2009
Looks like the cam changed position. You also can't see the big white tent anymore.
It is planned to leave tomorrow morning. I think early cause at 7am a cruiseship will enter thE Nieuwe Waterweg on its way to the Wilhelminakade.
Greetings Vincent

The guided missile frigate INS BEAS is still present.
Tomorrow (Friday) no cruiseship is expected to arrive in Rotterdam.
First one is mv.Rotterdam of the HAL, this vessel is expected to arrive on Sunday May 31, 2009 at 7am.

Re: Port visits Netherlands - 2009
Hello all,
This afternoon I brought a visit to the ship. I was happy finding out the ship was also open for all visitors this afternoon from 13:00u till 17:00u. The small tour on the ship started in the hangar, so my main goal was finished, to see the helicopter. Our guide was the first pilot of the chopper. So I could asked some questions, here are the answers;
- The ship is planned to leave tomorrow at 08:00u LT
- They are planned to make a flight when they are leaving the harbour for photo's and filming
- They are planned move out the chopper in the early morning (if the planned flight is still going on)
- This evening and night there is no change to see the chopper (the hangar will be closed during the night, and was during the night also closed)
- Best try is to get in Rotterdam in the early morning.
- The ship is sailing to their next destination/harbour > St. Petersburg in Russia.
It was nice to see the helo, to bad I didn't take my camera with me today, so only a few on my mobile phone...
Good hunting...
best regards,

Re: Port visits Netherlands - 2009
I visited the INS Beas this evening and took some pictures of the Chetak and sat in it with the pilot.
He indeed confirmed they are leaving tomorrow morning at approx. 08.00h. They are as Arno said planning another flight so if you missed this very interesting helo be there in time tomorrow and you can see it fly. Fingers crossed he will do so, goodluck if you plan to go!!!
And ofcourse: thank you to the very friendly crew on board.

Was able to visit the ship (incl. the hangar with the Chetak) between 20.00 and 20.30h LT. Crew very polite and willing to show everything.SWAT 11 wrote: This afternoon I brought a visit to the ship. They are sailing out between 8.00 and 8.30h tomorrow, they are on a 4 month cruise tour and already 1 month away from home.
I was told that they normaly have a Sea King and a Chetak helicopter based during cruises, but this time the Sea King stayed in India.
Kind Regards / Groeten,

Re: Port visits Netherlands - 2009
Ook in de haven waren de deurtjes nog dicht toen de schuit vertrok.
Alleen rond 06:30 vanochtend heeft 'ie een paar minuten open gestaan (maar was voldoende om 'm in de boeken te krijgen )
And just wondering; with a lot of people which have been aboard, and even the covers which have been removed on occasions, did anybody check the c/n plate inside the cockpit?

Hi,
At the moment the USS Klakring ( FFG-42) is next to the cruise terminal in Amsterdam,it has a big white party tent were the heli deck should be.Does anyone know whether it carries a helicopter at the moment and when it leaves? The USS Klakring is a Oliver Hazzard Perry class frigate so it could have a heli onboard.
Regards,
Rob
