Spotting at Sao Paulo (GRU): help wanted

Hi guys,

Somewhere this year I plan to go to Brasil. One of my destinations will be Sao Paulo. Whilst there I plan to do some spotting off course (taking pictures that is).

I've read the airfield guide, but I was wondering: does anyone have any experience spotting over there? I know Sao Paulo isn't the safest city in the world, so should I stay close to the terminal or could I take a cab to the surroundig areas? Furthermore: how do the local authorities feel about spotting?
