If they say "Duxford vliegshow", it might not be a kind of Flying Legends. The Duxford Airshow is an anual event held in september or october, organised by the Imperial War Museum, over the years receiving a lot of bad publicity due to a lack of quality if it is compared to Flying Legends. This one normally also has some modern era participants, like Red Arrows, Typhoon, F-16.

This has become possible due to an extra grant of 500 000 euro from the Dutch "BankGiro Lotterij"

30th departures of the machines that arrive at the 28th

De airshow in Lelystad gaat dit jaar toch niet door. Dat bevestigen Lelystad Airport en het Lucht- en Themapark Aviodrome. Een maand geleden maakte de stichting Flevoland Airshow nog bekend dat het vliegspektakel na vijf jaar afwezigheid op 29 augustus gehouden zou worden.

De show kreeg de naam Dutch Legends of History mee. Dit in verband met een aantal belangrijke jubilea rond de KLM en Fokker. Het festival gaat niet door, omdat de stichting Flevoland Airshow zich heeft teruggetrokken. Het is niet bekend waarom.

Het Aviodrome gaat op 29 augustus nog wel iets organiseren, maar dat zal de term vliegshow lang niet dekken, zegt een woordvoerder van het themapark.De airshow was financieel mogelijk dankzij een gift van de Bank Giro Loterij. Dat geld wordt mogelijk gebruikt voor een vliegfestival volgend jaar.

Volgens bestuurslid William van der Meulen van de organiserende Stichting Flevolandse Airshow was er te weinig tijd om buitenlandse vliegtuigen te boeken voor de show, omdat mede-organisator luchtvaartthemapark Aviodrome maar niet op de proppen kwam met een contract. “Daardoor was er geen financiële dekking en moesten wij ons wel terugtrekken.''

Terwijl de Stichting Flevoland Airshow de organisatie op zich had genomen, zorgde de Aviodrome voor de fondsenwerving.

My guess is that it is a bit the same as the oldtimer fly-in and drive-in cause the oldtimer cars are also welcome that day.

After Aviodrome wants to organise an airshow in 2010, now also Flevoland Airshow Foundation wants to do that next year, as can be read at http://www.airshowlelystad.nl/index.php ... -frontpage. Would this mean peace broke out between them, or will we have two shows next year or will they start to fight each other who may do it. Personally I hope one of the first two options mentioned, but I fear the last one will materialise (leaving to little time again for a good organisation).
