Looks like a big whale!
Re: Your 'Arty-Farty' pics
It looks like she's smiling so I thought this might be an "arty farty"
Re: Your 'Arty-Farty' pics
If I may nusty, I'm going to use this link of yours:
http://www.flickriver.com/photos/812370 ... teresting/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
To show people what I think is really Arty-Farty.
If people just look at that link for a minute, nustyR does everthing what I mean with Arty. Colors, compositions, strange phenomenons, angles, lighting etc. etc. this is what makes a shot special for me, not that there are a few power lines in front of the aircraft that are more distracting than an addition, or a picture of an aircraft that looks as if it smiles, but that's the only interesting thing in the photo (no offense to you guys, a lot of the pictures are nice but just don't fit the topic).
When I started this topic it started out great but it's slipping, a lot. People are posting pictures just for the sake of contributing, not to show an exceptional picture.

Re: Your 'Arty-Farty' pics
That´s what U think is arty-farty (I have to agree though ) but others might think differently. Arty-Farty is derived form the simple word "Art" + fart (the smelly kind). I have no idea how it came to be, but I first heard it from a brit around 7 years ago. Anyway art is only art in the eye of the beholder - meaning what is art to some, aint to others. Example; I look at a "masterpiece" from Von Gogh and think; " A five-year-old could have done that ". Someone else is completely in awe over the same piece of art. Then I look at a nustyR image and think; " Now, thats art " (while drooling and wishing it was my photo). The Van Gogh "lover" would probably think that nustyR´s pictures are just pictures documenting material life... Get my point?kiwi wrote: To show people what I think is really Arty-Farty.
Either way I personally enjoy all the images here, arty to me or not.
Will post some of the images I took that I find arty later

Good point, but if we, ok I'll say I, if I look at some pictures here, I don't see what makes them special compared to many of the other pics here.
And even though I tend to criticize a lot, I certainly don't see myself as a king of arty-farty (far from it, if I think a picture of my own is special, it must be damn special to me indeed). I don't think anyone is a king of arty (although Nusty does come close with some pictures..) and indeed someone's interpretation of what is special, different, better then others can differ, but I think the main thought is clear if we see how many reactions one of (for example) nusty's top shots gets compared to a random shot.

Re: Your 'Arty-Farty' pics
You sure have a point when you state that some, let say interpret the concept of arty farty different, but when looking at the (your) first post of this topic I don't see the arty farty in it neither. Maybe arty farty is a picture you self consider not (to your own) standard compared to the rest of your pictures? juts an idea..kiwi wrote: If people just look at that link for a minute, nustyR does everthing what I mean with Arty. Re: Your 'Arty-Farty' pics
I fully agree with you, compared to some works of art in this topic my picture is indeed not that Arty. I just liked the composition very much and maybe the moment (farewell of Soesterberg) and the special aircraft (F4) in the foreground combined with action in the background made it extra special for me.Melchior Timmers wrote:You sure have a point when you state that some, let say interpret the concept of arty farty different, but when looking at the (your) first post of this topic I don't see the arty farty in it neither. Cheers,
Maybe it's an idea that from now on everyone who posts is Arty pics can add what they think makes it arty.
For example with my picture:
I liked the composition on this one. This was taken at the farewell day at Soesterberg. The Greek F4 in the foreground makes for a nice setting and I liked the EC135 coming in behind it with the tower in the background.

Re: Your 'Arty-Farty' pics
61 This picture is documenting material life somewhere else
62 On request
63 Now this is a real FARTY shot
64 Guess what ??? It's not dust on the sensor
65 Unique view on a empty highway
66 Just another Farty shot.

Re: Your 'Arty-Farty' pics
Roel excellent shot! (and Arty in my opinion)
(Removing the dust spot makes it 100%)
@ Colin, when I close my eyes I can still see your picture. Not because it is that special... no because you have posted it in about every topic at this messageboard.

Re: Your 'Arty-Farty' pics
Why is 3 topics max (this topic (2 times, which one is just for example), Soesternerg Farewell topic and ???...)) almost every topic at this messageboard. I only count two and even so I've seen other pics more often on this MB more often, let alone pics that look the same!RogierV wrote:Roel excellent shot! (and Arty in my opinion)
