ETAD 04-05-2009

Noted at 18.15 (May 04, 2009)

C-17A 00184, 21104, 00176, 21100, 60008, 50107
C-5B 70027, 70032

From the points, in the Scramble Airfield Guide you can only see the tails and some parts of the
upper fuselage of these aircraft.

For spotters, who do not count tails only.........
If you drive to the higher parts of nearby Herforst town you can see the aircraft in total.
Also at 49.939719, 6.692005 you have a good view at the cargo ramp and even read the serials.

From a bridge over highway 60 (50.020165, 6.631486) you have also a good view at the cargo ramp.

From a bridge over highway 60 (50.020165, 6.631486) you have also a good view at the cargo ramp.
The distance from this point to the cargo ramp is 7 KM's
Also at 49.939719, 6.692005 you have a good view at the cargo ramp and even read the serials.
Which is almost 5 KM, great binocular you have

From the first point over the highway you can see the aircraft head on, indeed from
a great distance.

From the second point it was easy to read the aircraft in the evening around 18.45.
I have a 150 Euro binocular 20-40x20 (but I use maximal 30x) , but without heatwaves and a steady point it is
quit easy. The distance is little bit less then 4 Km.

Also from the Ramstein viewing point on top of the Steigstrasse in Kindsbach (49.414058, 7.614748),
the distance is about 3,5 / 4 Km and with my binocular I can even read the C-130's.

haha, yeah Hans, but I remember a story of you reading the F-5 in a Marrocan base with your "eagle eyes" Mk2 while we were still looking where you even saw the damn thing ;-)

nevertheless...usefull info!!! although I also do tails only when certain there's an compete aircraft underneath ;-)
