As nr. 4 engine went unserviceable, this flight will not take place.Key wrote:Scheduled departure of BoBMF Lancaster, time not yet clear.

Re: EHAM 05-05-2009 MIL

The engine has already been removed, but option might also be that a replacement will be brought by truck as that will have a transit time of no more then a day and is a whole lot cheaper.
But I keep hoping for a C-130 or C-17 for sure !!

Re: EHAM 05-05-2009 MIL
Both types are quite overstretched, both on airframe and crews. (Something about deserts south of the former Soviet Union.) And another important thing: they have to get a replacement engine first, before they can bring it to Amsterdam.Polleke_NL wrote:The engine has already been removed, but option might also be that a replacement will be brought by truck as that will have a transit time of no more then a day and is a whole lot cheaper.

Just one small addition if I may
Spoke to the BBMF chief engineer at the DDA-hangar yesterday; he confirmed that a new engine was being trucked over (Hull-Rotterdam ferry) as they could not find RAF air transport. The engine itself was no problem: they currently have 13 RR Merlins in stock...
