I used "abonneer je op dit forum" for the R"dam and Schiphol mil. movements so did always direct know by e-mail that there was something militairy going on.........I miss this.

Moderators can you tell me how I can get this, militairy only, info with the new layout the minut it's placed on the forum.

In the old situation we had the copy function of MIL movements into the military subforum, this was not obligatory but at free will. In the new situation it is obligatory to put military movements in a separate military topic named EHAM MIL date. The only thing to do is to look for EHRD MIL and EHRD MIL named topics. They concern all the info about military movements, there is no military movement posted in a EHRD (CIV) date or EHAM (CIV) date topic.

One of the ways to look for those MIL named topics is via RSS, you can add a the RSS feed to your browser or a separate RSS reader, with the button on upper left. With automatic updates set your RSS reader gives an update if there are any new messages at this MB. At the moment we don't have a separate RSS feed for one subforum.

Another way is by hitting "show new messages" on the upper right and look for MIL in the topic title, this can done manually or by using the search function of your browser (in Firefox ctrl-F)

No, I cannot. The division on (sub-)forum level is now by location, not by type of traffic. I realise this is a step back for you. However, due to the complexity we ran into with traffic type division by (sub-)forum, we took this step. I regret the disadvantage this brings to a number of users.

And while thinking it over and over and over again...
The accompanying 'half step forward' is that, under the old system, you were depending on the goodwill of others to copy mil moves into the extra subforums. If nobody happened to do that, you would never read about them.
Under the new system, when using "abonneer je op dit forum" as well, you will depend on your 'own goodwill' to see if any topics are labeled 'MIL' and read those. The new rule is that all mil moves go into MIL topics. The others you can simply throw away, in your case.

In conclusion, you will get a lot of messages of no interest to you, but you will have a better chance of not missing anything. Finally, keep in mind that the 'mil only spotter' is not the average Schiphol spotter. The average Schiphol spotter is interested in everything on the airport.

Created Spotting Germany as it turned out we have plenty input for this.

I'm enjoying the new set-up a lot since day one. Congrats to the team!

And as we now have a seperate Germany section, might I suggest a seperate 'UK' or 'British Isles' section?
An approximate 23 out of the 60 topics on the first two pages would fall into that category.

Combine the region and provide the users with a UK / Ireland forum.

Well.... actually we have now - even with a "filter" function so you can have only those 'MIL' topics (or any other filter you like), but first I need a couple of testers before I release it for public use.

Maar nu ben ik toch echt benieuwd of deze MIL/CIV splitsing voor alle velden geld. Binnen Nederland kan ik het me nog enigszins voorstellen, daarbuiten eigenlijk niet.
Moet ik werkelijk voor alle velden twee topics aanmaken? Klein voorbeeld van mijn laatste trip: Damascus, Aleppo, Lattakia, Istanbul, Chisinau, Budapest. 6 velden en op alle velden civiel én militair gezien. Dus één trip, TWAALF topics? Maakt dat het board werkelijk ´overzichtelijker´ en ´duidelijker´? En waar plaats ik dan de Syrische Il-76s? Militair volgens sommige, civiel in uiterlijk, om nog maar niet te spreken van government kisten...

En wat heeft het nu werkelijk voor deze velden voor zin? De meeste worden max een paar keer per jaar bezocht en zullen dus altijd volkomen onderaan in de lijsten terechtkomen. Als iemand er dus naar wil zoeken dan is dat al lastig, laat staan als er twee topics zijn. Extra werk voor degene die het plaatst, extra werk voor degene die het zoekt en alleen maar een wildgroei in topics.

Echt, als dit inderdaad de bedoeling is dan snap ik werkelijk niet wat het nut ervan is....

Theoretisch zal je inderdaad 12 topics moeten aanmaken echter dit is totaal niet praktisch zoals je zelf aan geeft.

Voor velden binnen Nederland, Belgie, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Engeland geldt de mil/civ splitsing. Bij deze velden heeft het namelijk ook nut om een mil/civ splitsing toe te passen aangezien hier vele log's van zijn, dan wel veel bezocht worden. Het komt de overzichtelijkheid en duidelijkheid ten goede.

De velden die jij noemt, worden niet vaak bezocht, als ze dan al bezocht worden willen we graag het overzicht behouden. Kortom voor velden buiten Europa graag 1 jaar topic, of te wel in het spotting worldwide forum.

De civ mil splitsing is uiteindelijk bedoeld om het de gebruiker makkelijker te maken. De regel dient ook geinterperteerd te worden naar de situatie.

Om een antwoord op jouw vraag te geven, " Damascus, Aleppo, Lattakia, Istanbul, Chisinau, Budapest" van deze velden gewoon een jaar topic maken

Aanvulling: we vinden ook allemaal 'een trip = een trip'. Logs van trips worden vaak als geheel gepost en daar heeft niemand moeite mee. In dit geval vinden we de inspanning van de poster, en het totaalbeeld, belangrijker dan het opdelen in hapklare brokken. Voor simpele logs en verwachtingen zou ik toch willen pleiten om de splits-methode vast te houden, want die lijkt verder wel goed te bevallen.

And so we did! The Eire & UK spotting forum has been created. This will be the last major change for the time, as we need some stability too. Additionally, the number of main forums has already risen to something filling more than two scroll pages on the Board Index. We would not want that to become even more...
