Hi,
Got word from a normally very, very reliable person that there will be a celebration for 60 years NATO in the Baden area. Though the date will be around 31-03 / 01-04 (yes I know this sounds as a joke.... but still.....)
At least something to keep in mind. By that time there will be notams to confirm I hope.
Edit: would make sense, cause after little googleling I found out NATO was formed 04-04-1949 so indeed that week 60 years ago..... but still find it tricky
Regards,
Oscar

Of course there is the 60years anniversary NATO summit in Strasbourg and Baden-Baden around 2./3.April ,with all the Head of States expected.Aircraft and helicopters will go to Strasbourg-Entzheim,Lahr, Söllingen and Ramstein .Due to expected heavy protests, security will be on a very high level in the whole area. Alone from Germany there are 14.000 police men/women on duty!

NATO Summit Baden-Strasbourg
Noted around the area today, Thursday midday.
Baden-Solingen = no visitors yet. Significant number of delegations expected to arrive Friday afternoon. Most access and local roads, including from the Rhine crossing at Iffezheim, will be closed 1200 on 3 April until 1000 on 4 April. Public access to the terminal will be mainatined throughout via the K3761 road running from Baden-Sinzheim to Stollhofen via Schiftung. Security already severe!
Lahr = significant number German Police and other civil helicopters parked on the west side. Some degations and press flights expected. Heavy police presence but security not too bad, so far. Access will be controlled and restricted 2200 on 2nd April until 2000 on 4th April.
Strasbourg-Polygone = No access possible to EuroCorps caserne. 4 AdlaA AS550s parked near to civil flying club. Security extreme.
Strasbourg-Entzheim = Up to 10 AdT Pumas and Super Pumas present in the SE HAS area, Gendarmerie AS350s and AdlA AS550s using the ramp and hangar also at the SE end. 3 x SC EC.145 on the SC ramp by terminal (PV, PW, QG). Access to central south crash gate (opposite terminal) via Entzheim village still possible. 5 x UH-60 and 2 x VH-3 present Tuesday evening on cargo ramp. Security extreme!
Most of the Autoroutes between north Strasbourg and Entzheim will be closed from Friday until Saturday midnight, and the access roads to the airport and the city will be subject to frequent closures.
Good luck to anybody trying their luck. We'd be pleased to hear from you!

Re: NATO Summit Baden-Strasbourg
While driving up north to Strasbourg, police presence got heavier and heavier the closer we got to LFST. Around the airfield, there were all sorts of patrols, mostly Gendarmes in cars. They checked IDs, but let the people watch and picture the aircraft, though not from too close.
Back in Basel, we logged (and pictured) a nice load of aircraft, that came here for parking space:
YR-TIB, Ion Tiriac Air, B737-300
0125, Norway Air Force, FA20
C-080, Denmark Air Force, CL60
OM-BYO, Slovak Republic, TU-154
G-EUPY, British Airways, A319 (came in as BA001 and got parked amongst the other NATO-Visitors, so I assume, it had been used for VIP-Duties)
T.22-1, Spain AF, A310-300
17403, Portugal AF, FA50
All of them are supposed to leave after 1300 local tomorrow. Security is no big issue for spotters here. We have our dedicated place (@ the Belvedere) and we were not bothered by anyone...
Cheers
