This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Re: schiphol 31-03 MIL
Nice to see that they've come to Schiphol! The weather conditions looks good.
You might want to check your sharpening in PS, it looks like you've done it a bit too much. Look at the line at the nose of the USAF Gulfstream in the last picture, it's kinda rigged.

I have tried to make some pictures of the other two the IL-96 and the C-32.
Made with a Kenko 1,5x and 100-400.

Re: schiphol 31-03 MIL
Seems to me the 'secret tip' from Evert is that less sharpening is not more work but looks better. IMHO that is the only thing that needs adjustment for photos of this size and use, meaning quick and dirty would be really all you need if you do it slightly different.FALCONCREST wrote:Thats what I call quick and dirty!
Great lighting, thanks for sharing!

Hi Evert en Erik
Actually, I've noticed the nose is out of focus... !
The lens (Canon 70-200 2.8L ) was set at 2.8 @130mm
so, its not the sharpening, but the out of focus which causes the rigged nose is my guess..

Is this one better ?

Here is my small impression of two days:
First time I used my one pod for a night shot, I am happy with the result.
The other participants could only be taken under ==censored== situations this afternoon (backlight, shade or stairs in the front), so this is all folks.
regards, Maarten

Re: schiphol 31-03 MIL
Hi Johan,
However, your second C-37 version is indeed better than the first I think! Main reason for my reaction was that I think your shots can turn out very well with very little 'Shopping'.
Erik
Not exactly what I meant. You got some 'halos' and some 'jaggies', both signs of oversharpening (possibly combined with Shadow/Highlight Tool). Look at the Greek Gulf for instance: halos best visible around the main gear, jaggies in leading edges, roundel and regi (the cheatlines are a different story, near-horizontal lines get distorted at this resolution anyway).FALCONCREST wrote:Actually, I've noticed the nose is out of focus... !

One of mine of the C-32 departing in the last rays of the sun of this evening:
Moved to Phototopic AMS/EHAM 31-03-09, to combine it with other shots I made.
Greetz,
Hans.
