F-84F visible near glider hangar
Hi,
Noted the fuselage and wings of an F-84F outside the glider hangar (near the QRA-area) this morning.
Easily visible from the outside.
Greetings,
Stefan

Re: F-84F visible near glider hangar
Hi Stefan,
These remains have been dumped here for at least 5/6 years now.
They belong to P-277
Best regards, Rob.

They have moved them to the tarmac, easily visible while passing.r.e.hendriks wrote:Hi Stefan,

OK....maybe they are finally beginning to restore this one.
I thought this is the one which will be preserved next to the F-16 and F-104 along the poortlaan.
Best regards, Rob.

It is the P-171 , the future Volkel Gate guard. The nearby hangar 1 is now also used by the group Historische Vliegtuigen Volkel. The P-171 came on March 10 from Hangar 3.

Ow ok....but the remains in the QRA which are harder to find are from the P-277.....or not?Hans van der Vlist wrote:It is the P-171 , the future Volkel Gate guard. The nearby hangar 1 is now also used by the group Historische Vliegtuigen Volkel. The P-171 came on March 10 from Hangar 3.

From the pictures I took this morning I cannot read the serial itself, but the last digit ends with a pure vertical stripe which would confirm Hans' statement that this is the P-171....

I also saw an F-104 (or a part of it) in the glider hanger while driving past Volkel.

Correct, I noted the fuselage of D-8312 and the front fuselage of D-8256 in that hangar last week:Copter wrote:I also saw an F-104 (or a part of it) in the glider hanger while driving past Volkel.
This is how F-84F P-171 was parked that day:

Re: F-84F visible near glider hangar
The D-8312 was outside during the openday. Did any one else happen to notice that it had a former Italian F-104S-ASA nosecone (radome) applied? The text was in Italian, and it also had M.M.6848 stenciled on it. Furthermore the former code (4-52) and the serial 6848 where writen on it with a blackmarker. Thought this was a funny detail about this Starfighter...
