Funny photo effect
On http://tiltshiftmaker.com/ you can change your photos into miniature photos. It's funny, that's all.

Re: Funny photo effect
Hi Rob,
Nice catch. Your photos look amazing with this tool, but some of the other examples look horrible. The Su-22 and the two B737's are very bad examples of this tool, while the blue carts and NWA airbus look great.
Maybe it's important to understand what this tool is trying to mimick: Depth of Field (scherprediepte) at ultra short range. With Photoshop you can create a similar effect if you use the gaussian blur in combination with gradient tool and a mask.
But I like the idea behind it.
Cheers,
Iwan

Re: Funny photo effect
To be honest, I think only your canyon boardwalk works. Like Iwan said, it's important to understand what the effect should be. Many examples above (not just yours!) are not fit IMHO, because for example an aircraft's tail is blurred while it should be sharp.Sowald wrote:Any comments are welcome.
As for the tec side, it seems the shallow DOF is combined with a slight deterioration of detail, to even better suggest we are looking at scale models. I like it!

Re: Funny photo effect
I totally agree with Erik. I'm sorry, but I think most results look like they are pictures of scalemodels in stead of real airplanes.

Uhhhh, than the pictures are great! That is exactly the purpose of the tool.....DJMikey wrote:I totally agree with Erik. I'm sorry, but I think most results look like they are pictures of scalemodels in stead of real airplanes.
In my opinion, after trying some myself as well, the best effect you will have if there is already some depth in the picture. And if the subject is more or less center and horizontal.

Re: Funny photo effect
Indeed it is. But many examples look to me like scale models with an unlikely detailed background, photographed with gel on the lens - at best. And that is not the purpose I think. At least it spoils the illusion for me. But I still like what the tool can do!ehusmann wrote:Uhhhh, than the pictures are great! That is exactly the purpose of the tool.....
