Well its becoming a bit of a joke. Showing an aircraft in july 2007, and can't get it to fly in 1,5 years. Great marketing stunt.

This plane is going to be a big embarrassment for Boeing and I am not convinced this bird will ever carry paying passengers.....
- Production delay resulting in later deliveries, pushing back cash flow
- Production ramp up becoming a bigger issue (subcontractors are already mentioning a temporary stop in production) also pushing back cash flows
- Customers will be eligible for late delivery penalty payments some time soon
- Credit becoming more expensive, further increasing investments costs

This financial side of the picture will became negative at some point. Question is, when?

Did we see this here in europa also with another company that builds those things that fly?
Chance Boeing to Airbus and you have almost the same story that was around a while ago. Something with the A380 I believe.

With the difference that the problems with the A380 only came AFTER first flight. The B787 hasn´t even come close to first flight and it is delayed for 2 years already.

can't help but have a smile on my face...
I Still remember the statements Boeing made all the time at shows like Le Bourget on the A-380's problems, offering T7's as stop-gap solutions and so on...
They should have know better as aircraft builders themselves..
Nowadays planes have become so complex, it takes at least ten years to field them..

I am really amazed that Boeing got this problem. I would have expected that they would have been smarter then this, they had problems in the past where they hired staff from competitors and saw airbus struggle, but this is worse, as someone else wrote, it didn't even fly yet.

What I cannot understand, is the fact that Boeing promised a plane
- that used a new technology on this scale
- that would be built by more partners than ever
- that would be testflown in a ridiculously short period
And still they were confident enough to sell almost a 1000 units before first flight! I would say they either have a brilliant Project Manager on that project......

... or a complete nutcase as Project Manager!
