Hi aviodromefriend!aviodromefriend wrote:According to a lot of magazines I've read, one of the ex-Austrian Airforce Drakens should be preserved at Vienna Airport.
Can anybody tell me if this is true, and where it can be seen?
TIA
I work at Vienna airport and this is the first time that I hear about that. It is certainly not true.

Hi Manfred,
Since you work at Vienna airport, do you know wether Sycamore 78+09 (unmarked, in a black and orange c/s) and the nose of Pembroke 54+27 are still present? They used to be preserved at the airport, but haven't been seen for a few years, and I also couln'd find them during my last two visits.
I do know the J.29 and L-29 are still present by the way.
Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
just a short log from a couple of hours spent at VIE due to sending off my family to Japan.
Nothing really interesting was noted during the time, however was glad to see 773 of EK for the first time at VIE and even more glad it was a new frame. Otherwise nothing exceptional, but it was nice to spend some time at an airport after quite a long break.
Hope it is of use for someone.
Best regards, Keishi

Aircraft displayed on airport terrace
Hi Patrick,
The Sycamore is presently worked on in the "Austrian Aviation Museum" in the city of Schwechat, where it is to be presented permanently on display. See top picture on the link below:
http://www.austrianaviation.net/featureaam.htm
The Pembroke is temporarily stored in a building of the snow cleaning brigade at Vienna airport and shall be displayed on the roof of the new Skylink terminal which is intended to become operative in October 2009.
brgds,
Manfred

Hi Manfred,
Many thanks for the information! I never knew about this museum, and I'm quite sure most people here on the forum didn't. Great to know that both the Sycamore and the Pembroke are still "alive and kicking". Another two to look out for next time I'm in Austria.
Thanks again!

Hi all,
went on a short spotting trip to Malpensa and since the flight was
departing early in the morning, I decided to spend the night at the

arrived at around 4PM and spotted till around 10PM. Let's first start
with the log.
The highlights were the THY 330 and UIA Cargo 737.

Now the requests. Thanks for help.
1. Can someone confirm that MD83 OE-IKB was parked on the apron where
also the Air Kosova was? If not, can someone identify it?
2. At night, I written down a business jet as N168GG, however this
doesn't seem to be the right reg. Anyone know the identity?
3. The last two are two freighters, I read off, but am not sure
whether I got them right. Did N422FE and N124UP land at VIE on that
day?
Thank you very much for any help with the requests once more.
Hope the log is of use for someone. Logs from MXP to follow.
