"Taiwan navy helicopter crashes, one dead
(10-22 00:21)
A Taiwanese navy helicopter crashed on Tuesday while trying to land on a warship, killing one crew member and leaving another two missing, a naval spokesman said.

The S70-C helicopter carrying five crashed during the naval mission east of Taiwan island, the spokesman said, in the second such incident this week.

The pilot and the chief engineer were injured in the crash and the body of a naval sergeant was recovered by rescuers, the spokesman said, adding that two more officers remained missing.

Earlier Tuesday, the air force confirmed that one of its fighter jets which went missing this week had crashed, killing at least one person on board."


The fighter involved is a F-CK-1 Ching-Kuo.

The fighter was AIDC F-CK-1B Ching Kuo 1615 [84-8055] c/n B-16

RoCAF IDF crash

According to a report in the Taipei Times for 22 October,the IDF crash involved an airplane from the 3rd TFW,based at Ching Chun Kang(CCK),which is north west of Taichung on the west coast of Taiwan.

Both crew members have been confirmed as being killed in this accident.

The third loss of a 2 seat airplane out of the 28 delivered to the Republic of China Air Force.
