Attacker is disarmed after mid-air drama aboard Turkish Airlines flight
ANKARA, Turkey - A hijacker was overpowered by passengers as he attempted to commandeer a Turkish Airlines plane over Belarus, Turkish media reported on Wednesday.
NTV television and Dogan news agency said the plane was on its way to St. Petersburg, Russia, on Wednesday.
NTV and Dogan cited unnamed Transportation Ministry sources as saying the hijack attempt was foiled.
CNN Turk reported that the plane took off from the southern Turkish resort of Antalya.
