Moscow Domodedovo spotting

Post by EC »

August 30 and 31st my accomplice and I spend at Domodedovo airport.
All photos are taken along runway 14L (spot 5 on the scramble map).
Normally you have the sun behind you in the morning. This was probably also the case these mornings but we never got to see the sun.
But as a well know dutch soccer strategist often says: every disadvantage has its advantages.
In this case the advantage of the very bad weather was that we could stay in this spot the whole day without the sun in our face.
Otherwise, moving to the otherside of the field would at least have taken 2 hours walking.

Hope you enjoy this mix.

Welcome to Domodedovo

one of the most interesting reports I have seen lately
Great shots!
Weather was maybe not so good, but the aircraft are fantastic, and in good weather you could have never captured some of these shots.
Like the spray off the IL-86 (H)

you hapen to have any info on EX-0002?
looks like an interesting one
furthermore on the shot of the transaero triple 7 there is an IL-86/96 in the background which is blue and white, and seems to have AA on the side
any info on that one to?

anyway, as I said, fantastic shots, and great report

Seems like an Armenian Airlines Il-86. That airline used to fly to AMS in the 90's, with Tu-154/Il-86.

According the great monthly Soviet Updates part in our magazine:

This Tupolev 154M EX-00002 was donated by the Russian government to Air Manas in January 2007. It was first noted in these red-white colours with Cyrillic Kyrgyzstan titles in June 2007.

Tu-154M 91A904 EX-00002 Kyrgyzstan FRU 22feb07 d/d; f/n LED 08jun07;ex RA-85722.
