E-3A Sentry 1 Squadron CANCELLED
Euh which country is this? NATO operates the E-3A but they do not have a 1 Squadron, the RAF operated the E-3D with 8 and 23 sq, the USAF does not have E-3A's at all.
NATO do have a 1 Squadron. I have friend who works there.
Kind regards

Hello Gentlemen

I do realize it may be a little late to ask this, but anyway:

Any recommendation on places to stay for RIAT 08, how to get to the show and any other pointers?
I do have a few days off in July and will be traveling from Taipei to London to try and see the airshow.

Thanks in advance.

So, basically Swindon is a good place to look for a B&B, and there is a bus service to take local people to the airport on show days?
I wonder if it is possible to try and find housing on Friday, as opposed to making a reservation...

Saturday and Sunday there is a busservice running from Swindon busstation. The last three years they were selling admission tickets there too for advance prices. For accomodation, try http://www.centrepoints.co.uk. They helped me the last three times with accomodation. I think they have year-round contracts with the local hotels, and this gives them a possibility to get people in hotels that are also blocked-off for normal people by the show. Mention to them you are coming for RIAT.

According to http://www.tvoc.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, the Vulcan got its permit to fly today. It will be at RIAT, but the first public outing is Waddington, where the beloved beauty will be on static display. The statement does not say anything about static/flying at the big F's

Thanks to Wapo at the Florennes 2008 topic

EXP 9-7

ETD1300 FALCON01 EBSF EGVA 2AMX

EBSF should read EBFS offcourse.

So the 2 AMX of Florennes will also be present at Fairford.
Assume makes an ASS of U and ME.

The Vulcan has also got his Display authorization so it will be flying at Waddington

i think it has something to do with this :

Royal International Air Tattoo
You are in: Gloucestershire > Royal International Air Tattoo > Fairford Flypast

Fairford Flypast
By Andrew Vincent

Get ready for a spectacular aerial display over the skies of Gloucestershire...

We'll get a chance to see the biggest formation of aircraft in Britain for nearly 20 years this week.

Map: Fairford Flypast 2008 >
On Friday July 11th, 90 aircraft will fly over RAF Fairford to mark the 90th Anniversary of the Air Force. The flypast will be watched by the Queen, who will have presented new colours to the RAF at a parade attended by 5,000 invited guests.

Air Tattoo
The event is the curtain-raiser to this year's Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford.

RAF flypast
The only formation bigger than this was the flypast marking the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, in 1990, when 168 aircraft flew over Buckingham Palace.

There are two opportunities to see this spectacular sight; there will be a full rehearsal over RAF Fairford between 2.30 and 3pm on Monday July 7th. (If the rehearsal is postponed because of bad weather it will be rescheduled for the same time on Tuesday 8th).

And the real fly-past will take place over RAF Fairford between 2.30 and 3pm on Friday July 11th.

Please note: These are the times that the flypast will pass directly over RAF Fairford. If you want to see the display further north e.g. just east of Cheltenham or Chedworth then we suggest you start looking overhead from about 2pm. The formation will form up in the Midlands and then head south over the skies of Gloucestershire.

Map of the route
Click on the link below to see a map showing you where you will be able to see the formation, and the aircraft taking part, on those two dates.

Map: Fairford Flypast 2008 >
If you watch the rehearsal and take any photos you're proud of why not send them to us? We'll include some of the best ones in our gallery. Please email your pics to gloucestershire@bbc.co.uk
