Spotted Hind near Relzow

Post by Flyingdutchman »

Hi guys,

Was browsing google earth seeking for former russion airfield in Germany, when I came across this helo.

Check this link: http://maps.google.nl/maps?f=q&hl=nl&ge ... 8&t=h&z=16" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Interesting to see a helo which is probably a Hind. Can anyone give more info regarding this one?

Ah, spotted as in 'on Google' ;)
Based on Soviet Transport data, I think this is Mi-8T 93+18 (former 932 of East Germany, 10547). It went to Oder-Schrott in may94 and later to Logistik, Lagerhaltung, Handel und Dienstleistungen Murchin which seems to be the location on GE.

Hi Erik,

Thanks for your information. With your description it must the one, lager = storage, which is obvious with all the big halls.

If it's indeed the one, it's a nice find! According to EMOOS the Mi-24 was not found in Murchin during a search in 2005, but since this location is just south of the village I can imagine it was not seen indeed.
A nice one to check out one day! :wink:

Patrick, just 2B sure, ST data shows no Mi-24 there but a Mi-8. From what is visible on GE, I would say it's a Mi-8 indeed.

Ach, an Mi-8 or an Mi-24, they're both helicopters, right! :wink:
But seriuos, you're right of course, my mistake. I was referring to an Mi-8 but typed Mi-24 for some reason.
