Shorter link to Rene's picture is this one: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled ... 0701049/L/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Every picture on A.net has such a short link, just look right above the picture...

If you are looking for military airplanes in China the best options are museums as photographing around military airbases are strictly forbidden and a Western face between Chinese people already attract attention.

Around Shanghai there is a Military museum located some 40km west where they display a russion carrier look-alike with all kinds of military jets on the flight deck. You can see it at Google Earth at 36 06 18 18N 121 00 51 12E

Also I remember a small fun park wit a J6 presented in the city itself

Greetings

Isn't that the ex-Russian Navy Kiev-class aircraft carrier that was actually BOUGHT by a Chinese entrepreneur and TOWED to China?? In that case, it's not a look-alike but the real thing :wink:

It was build in situ in the current Amusement Park Dong Fang Lu Zhou and now has about 6 Q5s, a Mi-8 and a J6:

Actually there are two real ex Soviet carriers in China:
The Kiev is also an amusement park and the (never finished) Varyag is now being finished as a genuine Chinese a/c carrier.

Supporting todays Olympic torch relay through Yangzhou was PLAAF AS332L1 Super Puma 2151. 8)

Probably all torch relays have a (camera) heli flying over at the end of the relay, so go get him!

Hotels in Beijing

Post by United 777 »

Not sure if the following questions belongs in this forum. My brother and I are going to Beijing in May. We are supposed to travel with Emirates via Dubai leaving from Düsseldorf. For the moment we are looking for a place to stay in the Chinese capital. Could anyone of you recommend an airport hotel? Is it wise to stay in the center of Beijing and commute to and from the airport? Is it difficult to get to the runways and do some spotting? What are your experiences?
