With take-offs to the east, you have two options.
You could stand at spot 2 and hope on a nice low take-off and maybe a nice turn to the right. Tornados are known for their low take-offs, there are seven of those so that gives you a change. F-4Fs have a equal style of departure. But the F-16s just rotate at the mid position and pitch up to about 20 degrees, so not good.
You could stand at spot 3, well a bit up the hill towards the gate where you will have a view from above onto the taxiway and take-off runway. With 400mm this could be an option as well.
Landing are best at spot 3 as spot 4 will have the sun against you.

the CSAR mission was cancelled and delayed until tomorrow due to the bad weather over Northern France. However, luckily, TLP ops was flexible enough to compile a "normal" mission to the UK, which seems to have the best weather at the moment ...

(notes: after a last-minute decision while already on my way to work I arrived at Florennes at late morning this time. As the weather was rather ok and risk of persistant mist forecasted for the rest of the week, I had taken this chance for completing my experience of this TLP course. Indeed, soon after arriving at the airbase, an impressive TLP mass-launch with 27 aircraft and no noteworthy ground-abort took place. Highlights among the participants of course where the four Spanish "Hornets" acting as additional/opposing fighter aircraft for this TLP mission. Also very welcome were quite a lot of changed airframes compared to my last visit of this flying course, featuring a "new" F-4F, one "new" 'AV' F-16, one "new" Klu F-16, one "new" JaboG 32 Tornado and one "new" based F-16. Luckily also both RAF Tornados went airborne this time. Two additional EF-18s plus nice activity of based F-16s, including some recce-configurated examples completed my last visit at Florennes this year ...)

Your words make me even more curious about the facts. I have seen some strange things happen to people at TLP. Good example:
Many years ago a fellow hobbyist visited TLP at Florennes from the outside, only to discover that they had a non-flying day. So before he went home, he drove up to the gate and asked for permission to make some flightline shots. To his surprise he was allowed to go to the TLP building and ask for somebody to accompany him. All he needed to do was to leave his passport at the gate and report at TLP.
This guy went to the TLP office in a straight line and asked for the commander. As he introduced himself and explained the commander about the purpose of his presence, the commander was furious to find a civillian spotter in his building. He sent him off base, only to have him arrested and be brought back when he reported to the gate two minutes later to collect his passport. (yes, he headed back in a straight line)
This guys was released about an hour after his arrest, without ever having been close to the flightline or even having taken his camera from the trunk of his car.
Now I don't say that this year's incident was as innocent as the one described above, but I am curious about the details ! Anyone have more info yet ???

Can some one confirm that the 5th AV8 was towed at about 10am?
