IB A340 of runway at UIO (9 nov)
Who can confirm this
At UIO (Quito) an Airbus 340 of Iberia skidded from the runway.
Even the ILS equipment of the runway is damaged.
Airfield close till 03:00UTC / 22:00LT

UIO will be closed this weekend Sat 10 nov & Sun 11 nov because of this accident.

From what I can see on the photos, there doesn't appear to be all that much damage to the fuselage, and the Nos. 1 and 2 engines seem to have sheared off relatively cleanly at the pylons.
On top of that, consider that the aircraft has only been in operation 20 months, and when you look at what Qantas did with their 9 year old B744 that had a runway overrun in BKK and suffered similar damage, it wouldn't surprise me if they repair the aircraft in Quito.

Looks like a big repair job. there seem some photo's from the inside of the ac where they claim there is a big damage as well, but haven't found those yet.
