The F-104 KG+101 are not from the collection of Piet Smedts and the F-84F P-263 are in 2 parts.

Baarlo visit

Post by jos70 »

I also was one of the spotters who visited Baarlo last saturday, and was very surprised by a) the collection and b) the welcome from mr. Piet Smedts. It's not necassary to climb over his fence, just sent an email to : info@psaero.com and he will be glad to welcome you on a saturday-morning (only possibility, between 0900 and 1000). For 10.00 euro you wil get a personal tour along the collection, completed with lots of info and enthousiastic stories about the planes. The plan is to collect the planes into an official museum within 2 years, close to Baarlo. The Atlantic will be completd again (all parts are available), and stored into a brand new shed.
Thanks again mr. Smedts for the guided tour, it was a great pleasure !

Hi Jos,

Was there any news on the expected Greek NF-5?

In april 2006 he mentioned te trade of one of it's G-91's for an ex-Klu Freedom fighter.

Hi Otto,

No, no news about the Greek F5, sorry, we didn't speek about it. On the wish list of mr Smedts is an Austrian J35 and a Hunter, he is searching for patiently. Also looking for a Mig 29, but prices are still way too high.

In Scramble I read that there should be a Belgian BN-2 Islander in Kessel. I was in Kessel last saturday but I didn't see this aircraft. Does anyone know where this Islander is parked exactly ?

Must have missed this in Scramble and as I don't have it at hand would the Islander in question be B05?

Cheers,

Koen

Yes, Scramble says it should be B-05, formerly stored at Bierset.

That's too bad for me indeed. But thanks for the log!

Oh ja, the MiG-23 you saw inside at Kessel was all red I guess? This is 20+09. Did't you get inside the sheds at the Baarlo location? There should be another 7 aircraft. No time for this?

Hi all,

I visited PS Aero yesterday.

I can confirm the Belgian Islander is in Kessel, it's laying next to the Red MiG-23 inside the building.

Last week a second German SAR Mi-8 (94+21) arrived and this one will replace the one already present, which will be leaving soon for display somewhere else.

One of the MiG-21's in Baarlo will be traded in Greece for an NF-5.

Regards,

Pim

Hi,

Yesterday, I visited also PS Aero in Baarlo and Kessel. Apart from the "new" Mi-8 in Baarlo (of which I could unfortunatley not read the serial on my photos) , I believe the following aircraft are also new (both in Kessel):

2008 MiG-21 (Polish Air Force c/s)
25+13 Su-22M-4 (fuselage outside, some paint and serial has been removed, but 25+13 is visible)
