Roll-out of the restored Lockheed Super Star
Lufthansa’s airliner legend is finished – almost
Lufthansa presented the freshly restored Lockheed L-1649A Super Star in Hamburg today. It will soon embark on its penultimate journey.

On January 17, 2025, the technicians celebrated a major milestone:
for the first time in many years,
the freshly restored airline legend rolled out of the hall on its own wheels.
The vintage aircraft will receive its paint job in Münster/Osnabrück.
In the coming weeks, it will be dismantled into larger segments.
Road transport to Westphalia is planned for July 2025.
With a fresh coat of paint, the L-1649 will then set off on its final journey to Frankfurt.
According to the airline, from spring 2026
it will be the main attraction of the Lufthansa Group's new conference and visitor center,
along with the Junkers Ju 52 D-AQUI.
Thanks to a glass facade, the exhibits will also be clearly visible from the outside.
