Aachen-Merzbrück (EDKA) 2024
Good afternoon,
Yesterday some interesting aircraft were seen at Merzbrück:
D-HFMW Augusta A109A Mk.II Rotorflug
D-HXAE Eurocopter EC135P-2+ ADAC
The ex Belgian hangar with Merzrbrück titles contained pretty nice oldimers, of wich some could be identified from the cycle path along the main road:
N770AX (ex IDF 048) Dornier Do27B-5 . Full IDF/AF camo
A-846 / D-EBSM (ex HB-RBU) Pilatus P3-05. Full Swiss AF silver/dayglow c/s
NX306WW / 138306 / 8306 / PA-410 North American T-28B Trojan. Full yellow US Navy c/s
N220NA / 138220 / 752 North American T-28B Trojan. Full orange/white/black US Navy c/s
code 728 T-28 red-white US c/s. Could this be ex Ethiopian AF T-28A 2342/508 which according to EMOOS2024 is in a US c/s and under restoration at Merzbrück? Comparing a 5min T28 clip shot at Merzbrück found on youtube, and a South African picture found on the internet this could indeed be the case. Both have the same c/s, only the older South African picture is lacking the code 728. Is perhaps anybody able to confirm this?
thanks in advance,
wkr, Remco

Some very nice aircraft indeed. Are these visible from outside or was the hangar open?

Hi Martijn,
The aircraft indeed can be seen from outside. The back of the hangar contains windows, from the cycle path along the main road to Aachen the logged ones could be identified. Please note even one more Trojan is based:
N1742R / 49-1742 / 742 (seen in May this year, in the same but this time partly opened hangar) in fake US Navy VT-5/USS Lexington c/s.
And ofcourse the other hangar also contains warbirds/vintage aircraft, two Stearman's were seen but couldn't be identified.
wkr.,
Remco
