IIRC VMFA-242 left four behind in the States after their spring deployment.
169626 was read as WH/14 (along with the other 9 from the Sqn) by me at Nellis at the beginning of August.

So VMFA-242 left 1 F-35B in CONUS after their spring deployment?

Does anyone have any idea which F-35B crashed last Sep? The one the pilot ejected from and the F-35B wouldn't just yet give up on life and continued flying for 60 or so miles.

Are you referring to the Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501 crash of 18 sept 2023? Or is there a second one...

It has already been explained.
LN needs Full Combat Capability aircraft while these only have the SW Bk4 Release 1 (40P01)

Part of the reason. LN wants all TR2 jets. So a decision was made to swap out LN scheduled deliveries with other units and instead LN will get some older models from other units instead.
