Return of Exercise Tac Blaze 2024 participants

Post by David Moore »

Hi All,

I apologise for disturbing the neat flow of movements information with a British question.

I missed the helicopters en route to the exercise & haven't been to Carlisle to see them either. I would love to see them on their way back home at the end of the exercise. Can anyone please let me know the confirmed date of their return and the location of any fuel stops en route if possible, please? Thank you very much!

Regards, David

Their return is planned for the 5th of July, during their return 1 fuel stop will be made at RAF Northolt and they will afterwards go straight to Gilze-Rijen

First group already departed Carlisle to Northolt, their arrival at Gilze-Rijens planned for the late afternoon

ADSB is showing single AS3B ahead, then 4x H64 and 2x H47 little behind.

ADS-B is usually not showing all a/c in a formation, so probably (almost) all of them are on their way home now.

Callsign of the Cougar is I believe NAF300A which implies there is at least a Bravo as well in that flight.. The Chinook flight seems to pass London on the north-side, not stopping at Northolt. Maybe they will lunch at Wattisham or Southend?

The Chinooks did not stop for fuel at Northolt, but flew non-stop from Carlisle to Gilze.

The Apaches and Cougars did transit Northolt, their arrival/departure details can be found on the Northolt thread. Very convienently, the formations were in serial order.

The sight of their arrival was impressive, and that many military helicopters arriving together possibly gave some of the local residents a bit of a fright.
