F-35 Deliveries Can Resume Immediately with “Truncated” TR-3 Software
July 11, 2024
Lt. Gen. Michael J. Schmidt, F-35 program executive officer, has approved use of “truncated” Tech Refresh 3 software, clearing the way for deliveries of more than 90 F-35s sitting in storage to U.S. military services and foreign users, the Joint Program Office announced July 11.
Schmidt approved the move on July 3. The JPO said Schmidt took the action “after extensive coordination with the services, Joint Strike Fighter Executive Steering Board, pilots, maintainers, and industry.”

Re: F-35 Lightning II developments
What is truncated TR-3? sounds like TR-2 with some TR-3 components (nothing new about it, initialy AF-07 equipped like that)
https://www.key.aero/article/first-f-35 ... den-flight
In other words, they stuck but in order to release the stored birds they come up with a BS definition to looks like they are in control.
For PR purposes ofcourse

SW Bk4 has been split in two Release :gluefan1 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2024, 09:29 What is truncated TR-3? sounds like TR-2 with some TR-3 components (nothing new about it, initialy AF-07 equipped like that)

Release 1 = 40P01
Release 2 = 40P02 will have full combat capability
Release 1 is now STABLE and maintainable, so the F-35A/B/C with TR3 hardware can be accepted.
When the Release 2 test will be completed/accepted, F-35A/B/C TR3 with 40P01 will be upgrade with 40P02
Upgrade the Software is a relative easy, and not require many time, procedure on field level.

AF-433 22-5949/TY noted today, July 16, 2024. Was the first DCMA acceptance flight (not a first flight).

Re: F-35 Lightning II developments
Hi All,
Does anyone have a breakdown of USN/USMC F-35B/C procurement batches (e.g. 1xxxxx-1xxxxx) by FY (esp. more recent years)?
Naval Aviation News at one time published BuNo batches of all naval aircraft for that fiscal year in their Summer issue, but
this was discontinued some time ago.
Thx,
SD

Re: F-35 Lightning II developments
Could be. In some instances they have to repeat certain aspects of the first flight if they RTB with an IFE or have other issues. However this day the first flight profile was flown hence the post above.
